Djibouti and Ethiopian Governments Sign Cross-Border Pipeline Framework Agreement
2015 February 7. The President of the Republic of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh, welcomed Ethiopian Premier, HailermariamDesalegn, for a three day state visit to Djibouti. During that time, the two governments signed a framework agreement for a cross-border pipeline between the two countries as well as a Joint Operating Agreement for the pipeline with the company.
The Cross-Border Pipeline Agreement was drafted by the Ethio-Djibouti Joint Ministerial Meeting. The agreement states that POLY-GCL will cooperate in building a natural gas pipeline from the Ogaden Basin in Ethiopia to Djibouti, where the natural gas will be processed in a marine terminal and transported all over the world. The successful signing of the Cross-Border Pipeline Framework Agreement created the foundation for the subsequent Pipeline agreements POLY-GCL signedwith both countries.
