Ethiopia Hopes to boost the Energy Cooperation with Chinese Companies
Alemu Simye, Ethiopian State Minister for Mines, said on November 8，2014 in Addis Ababa that Ethiopia expected closer cooperation with Chinese companies in energy development and utilization.
On that day, at the office opening ceremony of POLY-GCL in Ethiopia, Dr. Simye said that the friendship between Ethiopia and China had a long history, and POLY-GCL was the most important partner of the Ethiopia Ministry of Mines. Remarkable achievements have been made in the cooperation between the Ethiopian Ministry of Mines and POLY-GCL since 2013. He believed that through sincere cooperation, future projects will succeed through the joint efforts of both sides.
Xie Xiaoyan, Chinese ambassador to Ethiopia, said that POLY-GCL was the first Chinese company that was engaged in the cooperation with the Ethiopian government in the energy field. He believed that the powerful POLY-GCL could make a large contribution to the energy development and utilization of Ethiopia.
Barton Yu, Chairman of POLY-GCL, said that the company had finished the exploration analysis and feasibility report on relevant blocks since it signed the cooperation agreement with Ethiopia in November 2013, and POLY-GCL would continue to strengthen the cooperation with Ethiopia in the field of energy.
POLY-GCL was jointly established by POLY Group and GCL Group for the purpose of investing in the development of oil and gas in the Ogaden Basin.
